India Gate, New Delhi

My favourite eatery at Rishikesh. The man in singlet is the cook

After the 7 holy dips and 7 wishes

Lord Ganesha - the Hindu God of Success, Knowledge and the remover of obstacles. He is also the older son of Lord Shiva

There was a row of about 10 Hindu Gods but only Lord Ganesha's gate was opened. The priest was cleaning it, so i went near to pray. I found out the meaning of Lord Ganesha after doing a google search.

After praying and making a donation to Lord Ganesha, the priest gave me these

Rishikesh

Puri

Thali set

Lovely silver bangles for legs

"5 mins of fame"

This guy suddenly grabbed my hand...was surprised...*bitter smile*

Monkeying around

Re-visit Rishikesh because the 1st visit was marred by 3 full days of diarrhoea

Gangotri to Rishikesh..one of the most beautiful journey.

Kanwarians taking a break

While waiting for the mud slide to clear, i spotted this beautiful blue flower by the roadside. Stopping to smell the flowers.

Cherry apple and apricot. From my bus mates

Passing by apple orchards. Buying apples from the farmers (1kg -20rupees/60cents SGD)

Gangotri to Rishikesh

It was a bus load full of men/devotees. The youths sat in front while older people sat behind. They were really nice to me. They made sure i board the bus after each breaks, helped me refill my water and translated whatever the driver said.

On the bus to Rishikesh. My bus mates gave me these (indian snacks and tea).

Had filled my 4 miniature containers with the holy water

Going to take some holy water. The water was so cold that my hands numbed each time 1 scoped the water.

Cherry apples

Pilgrimages at the ghat

Fashionista. A Coat with a hindu attire.

Kanwarias

Kanwa Mela festival. Dedicated to Lord Shiva.

During Kanwa Mela, Kanwarias bring the holy water from the Ganges river, walked by foot or cycle back to their village or another point of the Ganges river. I have witnessed some Kanwarias walked more than 200km! (the same journey as my bus ride from Gangotri to Rishikesh).

A local child. She is very beautiful

One of the most beautiful picture i have taken

The locals

My bus mates

They were buying a shawl. The seller wanted to sell me the same thing for 350rupees but sold them at 150rupees. 1 of my bus mate offer to help me buy at 150rupees but i have already bought a shawl at Manali

flowing away

Gangotri. Oncoming direction of the Ganges river

I was so hungry after the 9.5hrs of journey

Approaching Gangotri

Marijuana (cannabis, hash, weed, joint)?

It is readily available, esp in Manali and places with sadhus. (sadhus favourite "cigarette"). An acquaintance in Manali smoked it in front of me and said it is a "psychological" drug and that he is not hooked (but has been using it for the past 5 years). Didnt know he was smoking hash until he said..it is like regular wrapping and smoking of a cigarette.

My bus mates. They were sititng beside me

Waiting for the mud slide to clear. It was a 2hr wait (patience patience meditation)

So picturesque

Uttarkashi to Gangotri

Uttarkashi. A very small town.
